National Year of Reading 2012

Love your library on 14 February!

SAVE THE DATE: Library Lovers’ Day is a chance for everyone to reconnect with the library and share the library love.

The initiative, coordinated by the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA), aims to raise the profile of the services which libraries offer. Australia’s public libraries provide quality information services that support lifelong learning, significantly impacting the cultural and information industry.

Winners are Grinners!

It is with great deliberation after receiving many wonderful and spirited entries for The Reading Room furniture giveaway, we are delighted to announce that the lucky winner of the furniture collection has been won by the kids at Boorowa Central School Library in rural NSW!

The Boorowa students were featured on the front page of their local newspaper recently and represent the true spirit of The Reading Hour! initiative -- inspiring us and many others in their local community and beyond. This is what The Reading Hour is all about!

We were truly captivated and heartened to see so many wonderful entries in the form of poems, heartfelt stories, photos and more, which were all wonderful and wish to thank you all for your enthusiasm and participation.

Why Reading Will Make You Happier!

"You know how your teachers and parents always told you to read and learn in school?

Well, they were right; reading is actually fun and cool, not just obligatory for high school graduation. It will make you a better person on so many levels and you’ll have fun while doing it.

Here are 21 reasons why it’s the best, most productive hobby you could ever have."
